For a designer, the fashion show invitation is a statement of intent,providing the first inkling for fashion editors and buyers of how adesigner is thinking that particular season.Invitation Strictly Personal presents a unique collection of 300 fashionshow invitations that span the past four decades, juxtaposing examplesfrom womenswear and menswear collections, both ready-to-wear andhaute couture, from all four fashion capitals - New York, London, Milanand Paris. Most of the invitations come from Webb's personalcollection, which he has accumulated over the years as a fashioncorrespondent, and there will also be contributions from his front-rowcontemporaries, including Colin McDowell.In addition to invitations in their various forms, the collection will alsofeature programme notes, posters and promotional objects - all ofwhich have rarely been made available outside the fashion industry.
